Hi! I’m Tan. Welcome to my cerebral playground, where neurons fire and minds unfold. I’m an assistant research professor of Computer Science at Duke University and a faculty member of the Duke Institute for Brain Sciences. I received my PhD and BS degrees in EECS from UW—Madison and UC Berkeley, respectively. Happy to chat!

I aspire to make discoveries and to build innovative AI models that are well-motivated by scientific data and findings. I research two complementary themes: developing topological methods to understand network behavior in the human brain, and utilizing brain-inspired topological tools to enhance neural network-based AI methodologies.

Also. Aspiring photographer. Food enthusiast. Home cook in training.
